Tenth of Tevet: Babylon's Siege of Jerusalem
(A Modern Representation of Israel's Victory of Enemies In the Darkest of Times)
"Tenth of Tevet (Hebrew: עשרה בטבת, Asarah BeTevet), the tenth day of the Hebrew month of Tevet, is one of four annual minor fast days in Judaism, referred to in Zechariah 8:19. This fast is observed from before dawn to nightfall. The fasting is in mourning of the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia—an event that began on that date and ultimately culminated in the destruction of Solomon's Temple (the First Temple) and the conquest of the Kingdom of Judah--today the southern West Bank.
These fasts are counting from Nisan as the first month (the Jewish religious calendar). Zechariah 8:19 says, "This is what the Lord Almighty says: “The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh and tenth months will become joyful and glad occasions and happy festivals for Judah. Therefore love truth and peace.” So although today these four fasts represent crisis points in Israel's history, one day in the Kingdom they will be celebrated as joyous victories! However, for now... they represent potential prophetic moments in God's unfolding plan for the appointed times of the end.
The four fasts are:
The fast of the 4th month is 17 Tammuz.
The fast of the 5th month is 9 Av.
The fast of the 10th month is 10 Tevet.
In 2020, the 10th of Tevet called Asara B' Tevet falls on Tuesday, January 7. On the 10th of Tevet (the 10th month in the Hebrew calendar), 2440 years ago, Jerusalem was besieged. It kicked off a cycle of calamities that spiraled through Jewish history, and through world history. If you don't think it involves you, just look at current world events as a reminder that this ancient fast corresponds to leaders of the modern area of Babylon--Iraq and Iran--both Islamic nations with both political and military leaders who have spoken publicly and worked tirelessly for the modern state of Israel's demise, just as those thousands of years ago.
the end-time prophecies of Daniel 8 we learn about an Islamic Ram with two horns (IRAQ and IRAN),
both nations which will be crushed as the end-times come into focus, and
then accelerate. Daniel
was taken into vision “in the province of Elam; in the vision I was
beside the Ulai Canal” (8:2), which location is near the Iran and Iraq
border region close to the Persian Gulf. Daniel “looked up, and there
before me was a [Islamic] Ram with two horns”--two countries: Iraq and
“standing beside the canal, and the horns were long,” indicating
these two prominent trouble-making Islamic nations in the Gulf region. “One of the
horns [Iran] was longer [bigger/stronger] than the other and grew up
later [will be crushed after IRAQ]… suddenly a Goat” (Western powers) “with a prominent horn
between his eyes” (America) “came from the west, crossing the whole
earth” a great distance and with speed “without touching the ground.
He came toward the two-horned [Islamic] Ram I had seen standing
beside the canal and charged at him in great rage. I saw him attack the [Islamic] Ram furiously, striking the Ram
and shattering his two horns”—IRAQ and IRAN. “The Ram was
powerless to stand against him; the Goat” from the West “knocked him
[Islamic Ram] to the ground and trampled on him, and no one could rescue
the Ram from his power. The [Western] Goat became very great, but at the
height of his power his large horn [America] was broken off, and in its
place four prominent horns grew up toward the four winds of heaven”
(Daniel 8:3-8) dispersed in all directions of the globe. This would
indicate that although the prominent horn of America conquers the
nations of IRAQ and IRAN, soon thereafter, America will lose her prestigious
superpower status among the nations of the world.
Three Modern-day Islamic Leaders of IRAQ & IRAN--Old Babylon & Persia
Who Died and/or Were Buried on Asara B' Tevet
1) Saddam Hussein--the fifth President of Iraq from July 16, 2003 and the focus of the IRAQ War was buried on Asara B' Tevet, the 10th of Tevet on December 31, 2006 in his birthplace of Al-Awja in Tikrit, Iraq, near family members, including his two sons Uday and Qusay Hussein.
Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani--4th President
of Iran died on Asara B' Tevet, the 10th of Tevet on January 8, 2017. Daniel wrote that in
days” (10:14) there will emerge in Persia “three kings” (or,
rulers—11:2). However, the “fourth” will stir up Islam against the
“realm of Grecia”—the Western nations. This fourth leader of the
Islamic Republic did become one of the most influential Presidents in
modern-day Iran—the wealthy Hojatolislam Ali Alvar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
Daniel predicted both his riches and his reign: “Three more kings
[rulers] will appear in Persia [Iran], and then a fourth [Rafsanjani],
who will be far richer than
all the others [previous leaders]. When he has gained power by his wealth,
he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece [Javan—Western
3) General Qasem Soleimani--Iranian major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from 1998 until his death, will be buried on Asara B' Tevet, the 10th of Tevet on January 7, 2020.
