Revelation 4 & 5
This week's lesson takes us inside of the majestic Sanctuary in
Heaven--the most sacred location in the universe. It seems like
a place of mystery and ethereal existence, but it is as real as
the rooms you and I sit in and the beds we sleep on.
And,
at this moment there is no doubt the hustle and bustle, conversations and
activities involving the Creator of the Universe--the very Son
of the Most High. He oversees the whole of creation and all
creatures, but... He also searches around the globe for
those whose hearts are perfect towards Him to reveal Himself
even more to them: "
the eyes of the Lord
run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself
strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him,"
2 Chronicles 16:9.
The Sanctuary is not only a place of love and mercy, but also a
place of judgment according to the book of Revelation. Sanctuary
events are about to intersect with Planet Earth, and it centers
around a Seven Seal Scroll. From the
altar, coals of fire will be plucked and thrown to the earth
penetrating our atmosphere and plummeting to the earth as
destructive molten rocks of fire (8:5).
"Out
of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and
voices" as signs of His power and majesty that
will be heard and seen across the globe at the voice of God.
Nearly 2,000 years ago a group of disciples gathered in an
upper room asking for the power of God to descend from the
throne that they might go out and raise up a people who believe
in the Name of our Messiah--Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Now in 2015, we sit
on the eve of this annual celebration known as "Shavuot"
to Jews and others; you may know it as Pentecost. God instructed
His disciples to count for 49 days from Passover; and, on day 50
the Spirit of God rushed into the room in fiery power. The
disciples spoke in languages they had never studied as a sign of
God's anointing.
So it is, my
friends. Either we will have a relationship with Messiah and
receive the fiery power of the Holy Spirit, or we will disregard
Him and be burned by the judgment fire that precedes from the
same throne. In the Sanctuary decisions for life and death are
made and books are recorded. May our hearts be perfect before the Lord, as we trust
moment by moment in His saving grace and respond in obedience to
Him.
