Israel's Enemy to the South

The Following Excerpt is from the Insights in Prophecy

Lesson 10, Written in 2003

Chapter 10 introduces Daniel's final and lengthiest vision, spanning three full chapters (Daniel 10, 11 & 12).  The future, end-time fulfillment of Daniel's vision is announced right in the passage itself: Daniel 10:14 says, "Now I am come to explain to you what will happen to your people [Israel] in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come."  The King James reads, "what shall befall thy people in the latter days."

Daniel and his companions were standing on the bank of the Tigris River around 535 B.C.  The prophet had been fasting for three weeks (vs. 1-4), and then he saw the Man clothed in linen, whose majestic appearance caused Daniel to faint in fear.  Chapter 10 then addresses the collision between good and evil angels; encounters that will no doubt become more prevalent during the last days.  When righteous angels, under the guidance of Michael, the Prince of the Host, move in the affairs of men and travel throughout the earth, they encounter resistance from the demonic forces.  Sometimes only the Prince and Priest, the Man in linen, can demand compliance and push on through the trouble spot.

The forty-five verses that comprise chapter 11 portray the ongoing struggle between the kings of the north and the south. Commentators have applied most of chapter 11 to historical events, jumping from century to century across the span of time to find possible fulfillments.  The king of the north has been assigned to various powers--Syria, Turkey, Russia and Europe, to name a few.  However, after many years of consideration, this study will offer you a modern-day explanation of the vision.  In the author's opinion, the entire chapter portrays events involving two adjoining nations--Egypt, the king of the south and Israel, the king of the north.

With this interpretation in mind, chapter 11 would be revealing several end-time clashes between Egypt and Israel and their leaders.  The chapter implies there will be an internal power struggle in Egypt, and a turnover of leadership.  If final events begin soon in our day, the current reigning president--Hosny Mubarak, may be succeeded by Egypt's long-standing military commander--Field Marshall Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, or a similar personality (11:5).  What follows is new radical leadership, and a series of clashes between Egypt and Israel.

As you may know, events in Egypt since early 2011 are shaping up to fulfill the prophecy of Daniel 11, setting the stage for end-time conflict between Egypt and Israel. Prophecy predicted internal strife in Egypt (Daniel 11:5), and the turn over of power to military commander. The lesson, written eight years ago, named Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, and that is exactly what happened in 2011 (see news articles below).

Egyptian Official: Mubarak to Step Down, Transfer Authority to Armed Forces

"President Hosni Mubarak will step down shortly and transfer authority to the Egyptian Higher Council of the Armed Forces, a senior Egyptian official confirmed to Fox News on Thursday. The group is comprised of the minister of defense, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi -- who stands atop the military hierarchy.

Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi

Born October 31, 1935, he is an Egyptian military officer. He holds the rank of Field Marshal and has served in the government of Egypt as Minister of Defense and Military Production since 1991; he is commander-in-chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Below is a possible scenario in light of current events, based on Daniel 11:5-8. What we find is modern events cloaked in the politics and language 2,500 years ago when the Daniel 11 prophecy was written.

"And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south [may represent Ambassador Fatma Elzahraa Ibrahim Etman, Head of the Mission of Egypt to the EC; or, a newly appointed female ambassador/political figure; or, simply a usage of ancient language to convey modern ideas--representing the concept of offering concessions for continued peace with Israel] shall come to the king of the north [Netanyahu-- Israel] to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm [not backed by political strength and/or the army]; neither shall he [Tantawi, current General in charge of Egypt in early 2012] stand, nor his arm [power]: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times [the political envoy will be useless/killed, and those who support her eliminated, leading to a new leader in Egypt--likely one the Muslim Brotherhood approves]."

Feb 10, 2012 News Update concerning current internal strife in Egypt that matches the Daniel 11:5-8 prediction: Egypt's Brotherhood Gets Generals' Attention  "Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood wants to sack the military-appointed government and replace the current PM with one of its own. The call days before a general strike sparks even more concern the Islamist group wants to monopolize the country’s politics."

"But from a branch of her [Egyptian] roots one shall arise [new Egyptian leader, more radical in his views against Israel--like Muslim Brotherhood approved, and radically against the state of Israel] in his place, who shall come with an army, enter the fortress of the king of the North [Israel], and deal with them and prevail. And he shall also carry their gods [religious/precious articles] captive to Egypt, with their princes and their precious articles of silver and gold [spoil]; and he [Egypt's new leader after General Tantawi--a Muslim Brotherhood approved leader] shall continue more years than the king of the North [Israel's leader--Netanyahu]."

With the exception of the Mediterranean Sea to its west, Israel is now surrounded by Jihadists, since the riots of Egypt have produced the kind of Muslim Brotherhood control that seemed inevitable. This, in turn, now produces a near total Iranian hegemony over the region.  Purim of 2012 will bring with it the prophetic event that will forever change the landscape of the Temple Mount and Jerusalem, launching Islamic hatred and a massive assault against Israel.

Crisis in Egypt

Israel is losing her friendly neighbors. First Turkey in 2009, now Egypt, and possibly Jordan. And, Lebanon just recently moved into Iranian control.  We are moving into end-time tensions and dangerous events.
